Pro Football Focus Revolutionizes Gametime Data with In-Game Grading Feature
New In-Game Data and Grade Access to Transform Fan Engagement and Decision-Making
Cincinnati, Ohio, October 3, 2024 – Pro Football Focus (PFF), the industry leader in sports data and analytics, today unveiled In-Game Grading, a new feature that invites fans to access game data and results from PFF’s grading process as it unfolds. A first for PFF, this feature represents a milestone for sports data and its impact on football for professional teams and fans alike.
“Fans are hungry for quality data at every level of the game,” said Khaled Elsayed, Vice President of Data at PFF. “We’re seeing tremendous growth in demand for actionable data that can power every part of a fan’s journey, from the games they watch to the fantasy football and betting decisions they make. With In-Game Grading, we’re answering that call by providing the PFF community with the ability to experience the game as our experts do - as it happens.”
In-Game Grading brings PFF+ members into the action and enhances fan engagement by providing the same advanced data and analytics NFL teams use to make winning calls on the field. In-Game Grading will create new avenues for integration by enabling a smarter, faster, and more interactive viewing experience across every facet of football.
PFF Process Highlights:
-
PFF’s advanced grading process is trusted by all 32 NFL teams and is the industry’s most reputable standard grading system for player performance.
-
PFF grades are manually collected and processed by an average of 30 analysts over the course of approximately 90 combined hours for one football game.
-
PFF’s initial play-by-play grading is 93% accurate compared to final grades, with a rigorous review process of live game broadcast with All-22 footage.
-
In-Game data and grading will follow approximately 15-to-30 minutes behind live action, with speed to improve as the season continues.
-
Shortly following the final whistle, initial PFF grades are available for 90 minutes before they’re locked for final review and refined with All-22 footage. Final grades are released the following morning once data is thoroughly reviewed to meet PFF’s accuracy standards.
In-Game Grading is the first of many exciting updates in the works at PFF to make the sports analytics experience more transparent, accessible and fun.
Members can access In-Game Grading for all games throughout the 2024 NFL season through their PFF+ account. Data is completed shortly after the game ends and remains unlocked until 6 p.m. for 1 p.m. games, and 9 p.m. for 4:05 games, ET.
